It came as no surprise to me when Ms. Palin said she'd had enough. She and her family have definitely been through the ringer. Choosing a life in the public eye is not as easy as it looks when served up on a silver platter of fame and fortune. I wouldn't choose it. I'm much too private.
Sarah Palin has a remarkable birth chart since 5 planets are in the sign of Aquarius. The Moon (emotions) and Mercury (communication) are conjunct (right next to each other) in degrees 1 and 4, respectively. The Sun (essence), Mars (aggressive urge), and Saturn (boundaries, limitation) are conjunct in the 22nd, 23rd, and 25th degrees (respectively) of the sign, forming what is called a stellium.
Aquarius is ruled by the planet Uranus. Uranus and Aquarius also correspond to the 11st house of a chart. Some keywords for these energies are friendship, detachment, rebel, unexpected, surprise, humanitarian effort, group, hopes and wishes. When the planet Uranus is transiting, or moving over, a sensitive point in one's chart, one can expect the unexpected. It can be exhilarating or confounding.
The planet Uranus went retrograde on July 1, two days before the announcement of Ms. Palin's resignation. Before a planet goes retrograde, it appears to stand still in the heavens. Remember, as I've written in former posts of retrograde Mercury, it only appears to stand still or go backwards from our point of view on earth! Since Uranus moves very slowly, it has been stationary in the 26th degree of Pisces since the last week of May. It will turn direct again on December 1, and moving through the 26th degree of Pisces again in late February and early March, 2010. We might be hearing more on this matter at those times.
So, when the planet ruling 5 others in the chart goes retrograde, it is not at all surprising to see something big happen. Sarah Palin has displayed an Aquarian's surprising, unexpected qualities certainly during the last few years as Alaska's governor, and throughout her life. Expect more.
