Yesterday there were two significant transits in the GOP candidates' charts. A transit is when a planet in the sky right now makes a certain angle (0, 60, 90, 120, 180 degrees apart) to a planet or point in the natal chart. It is a good indicator used in forecasting.

John McCain's Ascendant is being transited by the planet Mars. This usually signifies a need for physical exercise to release that Martian (God of War) energy. It is a good time for physical work requiring stamina. It will most likely boost your assertiveness. Mars can also bring on rashness, impatience, and temper flairs. There are a number of dynamic transits in McCain's chart right now and through the next few months, as is true with Barack Obama's, also. That should seem obvious considering they are both running for the office of the president of the US. They each need to take care of their health and well-being, as well as their relatives needing to do the same.

Sarah Palin has the planet Saturn transiting her natal Pluto. This is a slow, deep merging of obstruction, crystallization, and limitation with Plutonian transformation, regeneration, or destruction. This transit would signify sober power struggles. Palin's transit is taking place just past the cusp of her 2nd house of resources and values. She may find she has to struggle for the use of resources which she formerly considered completely her own. This could also be interpreted to be a difficult effort to attain power concerning values and deciding exactly what is important, what matters.

On the Democrat side, both candidates are going through a transiting planet entering their 2nd house of resources, income, and values. Obama's 2nd is being influenced by Uranus, which brings sudden, surprising changes (sometimes for better, sometimes not). Biden's 2nd is greeting the Santa Claus of the skies, Jupiter. Jupiter brings rewards and increase. The downside of this would be spending too much too quickly, but the benefits of this transit would far outweigh any negative.

Let me finish by saying things indicated through astrology, such as character and trends, are not etched in stone. It simply means there is a strong likelihood. But with conscious effort, or differing circumstances and environmental realities, evidence of the influence can be relatively minimum. That's why there is no reason to be afraid of astrology. This valuable science and art was treated with ignorance in the past and fell from the position of honor once held. It can be compared to a weather report; you hear that it may rain, so you take your umbrella. If you choose not to take the umbrella, or you forget, you will probably get wet! Another example is swimming with the tide rather than against it. It goes much easier if you go with the tide, you will go faster and arrive not so tired!
