Here's a photo of the guy holding up the gun in front of Ralph's. It turned out to be an air-soft type of gun and probably wouldn't have hurt anything. Upon discovering this, the SBPD switched to non-lethal weapons and fired a couple of beanbags to throw the guy off-center long enough to get him into their custody.

It turned out that the police were not called to the store about this guy, but about a youth who was behaving in a "suicidal" manner. The police arrived, took care of the youth, and then this poor guy, Ralph Provident, pops into the picture. Very strange. No word from Ralph's as to whether Ralph Provident could ever shop in Ralph's again.

Guess what else happened in SB on Friday? Rudy Giuliani made an appearance at a Montecito (where the rich people live) fund-raiser, then appeared at a popular downtown restaurant, Joe's. He apparently went in and 'worked the room' shaking hands and kissing babies (or was it shaking babies and kissing hands??). Forgive my silliness here.

Giuliani took a few questions outside of Joe's. He said he would remain in Iraq until victorious. It occurred to me that upon hearing those words, certain people certainly would want to commit suicide or take a gun to a grocery store (in the center of town across the street from the main firehouse and 2 blocks from the police station!).

I was going to post a photo of Giuliani's public appearance smile but changed my mind. Frankly, the guy just gives me the creeps. I've tried to figure out what it is, but the baldness, the dark eyes, the rehearsed smile, and those dimples (in combination) just make me cringe.

In his birthchart, Neptune is in the First House right on the Ascendant. The Ascendant is Virgo, so he likes to look like the hard-working public servant. Very responsible looking. Sun is in Gemini, conjunct Uranus giving him some smarts and creativity. He can move suddenly, surprising or shocking others. He also has a marker that quite a few politicians have, Moon conjunct Jupiter. It gives popularity with the public. A need and a guarantee for advancement, success, and good fortune.

But that Neptune! Neptune has to do with Pisces, the sign on Rudy's 7th house of partnerships. Neptune rules glamour, glitz, illusion, fantasy, films, drugs, alcohol, sea, fog, and things that obscure or dissolve reality. Neptune is very idealistic. Rudy has very high ideals as far as his partner goes. Have you seen his wives? They all look alike. Perhaps when they have children and cease to be the 'ideal' he married, he needs a new one. Johnny Carson was like that, too. He had 3 or 4 wives and they all looked similar but they even had the same initials! At least he joked about it saving him the expense of having new monogrammed towels made every time he remarried! Love that Johnny...

Neptune on the Ascendant signifies someone who loves to play pretend and is aware of images. Connecting with the partner as it does, Rudy's wife is firmly part of his public persona. One of the drawbacks, according to GOP kingmakers, is the divorces. Rudy has to do whatever he can to give people the image of a loving (always available) husband, and help them forget about the divorces and the fact that a mistress can turn into the new Mrs. Giuliani very easily with this guy. Therefore, I think the phone calls answered while giving campaign speeches, on stage, with supporters cheering and applauding, and cameras running, are certainly planned in advance and are a PR move. We may not see it again, unless they don't know it is so painfully obvious to most of us that it's fake, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happens one more time.

Rudy absorbs the atmosphere and support of the crowds he sees, and turns it to his advantage. He is good at campaigning and cameras seem to appreciate him.

The thing that I'm most disturbed with is the Mars-Pluto conjunction. The bloody God of War and the ruthless God of the Underworld team up to twist arms and kidnap maidens if it means staying in power. Serious control issues here and I'm not sure this is a hand I'd want close to the buttons on the war machine. Of course, considering the current dysfunctional duo who were manipulated into the position by the corporate power-brokers and other political ne'er-do-wells, we know very strange things can happen in American politics.

Conjunctions are aspects. Aspects are the relationships between the planets in the chart. A conjunction means the two powers and energies of the planets involved are combined and bolstered mutually since the two planets are right next to each other in the heavens at the time of the birth or the event. Some people have conjunctions with 5 planets or more taking part. That is called a 'Stellium'. It super-emphasizes the qualities of the sign(s) in the native with such a chart configuration.

Also, in looking at Giuliani's chart, notice how most of the planets are in a certain part of the chart? You can tell a bit about someone by what shape the chart resembles. Giuliani's planets are bunched up across the first 6 signs in the zodiac, the signs which concern the 'Self'. The last 6 signs are mostly concerned with 'Others' or society. He's concerned with things as they relate to his 'Self'. There is a certain half of the process involved in the zodiac that has no representation in his awareness. There is a lack of perspective, possibly, and an over-emphasis (or obsession) with the half of the zodiac containing all the planets. I'm not trying to make a value judgment here, though. The focus that is given by the concentration of many planets in a certain part of the chart is capable of creative and intellectual genius. The inventors or composers that we hear about who 'eat, sleep, and breathe, their work or their music are most likely to have a chart like that.

Next, I'll talk about the motto of each sign (i.e. Mars "I am", Leo "I create", etc.) and write about the idea of the chart being looked at as part of a process - a snapshot of the heavens which contains the potentials which will unfold as the cycle of time goes on.
