Astro-Nicity by Lulublue

 Yikes! What Was I Thinking???

After giving it a good try for most of the day, I did manage to get my astro-nicity email running.  But I only got as far as picking a template and color scheme, then trying to put a name and photo on that site before I gave up.  What an insane way to waste time.  Yes, it seems like a fun, creative challenge at first.  I'm sure with practice it gets very rewarding.  Maybe I'll manage to get it looking half way decent a year from now...then I'll probably just let it expire because it takes too much time!

I have a short compatibility point to make.  A B'streamer was kind enough to give me her birth data as well as that of 2 people in her life.  She is compatible with her mate, not so much by sign, but by the fact that they each have several planets in their respective 12th houses.  Each person has their natal Sun in the 12th house which is a very behind the scenes kind of place.  The 12th house sort of corresponds with the sign Pisces as well as the planet Neptune, which 'rules' Pisces and the 12th.  Each partner knows what the other needs because they share quite a bit of energy entering into their world via the house which is content to stay behind the scenes and indeed may need to do so to keep from soaking up the vibes of others.  Neptune, 12th house, and Pisces types are like the 'psychic sponge' that soaks it in - the good as well as the pain.  This influence is also the least of the 'individualist' signs of the zodiac.  Pisces, the 12th sign is ripe for transcendence, feeling and comprehending the one-ness and connectedness of all of life on the Earth.

Numbers always give one much to think about.  Twelve.  Let's see...there were 12 apostles, there are 12 months (although there were not always 12), and 12 in a dozen, it's a number which seems to correspond with completion.   What other 'sets' of twelve can anyone think of?  I'm sure there are quite a few.

Have a great weekend, all!

 A Place of My Own

I took a leap - I acquired the domain name of astro-nicity.com and am in the process of putting a site up there.  I am not sure what to do next.  But I do have my new e-mail of 'adryen@astro-nicity.com".  I have sold chart interpretations (aka 'readings') over ebay for a while (under the name of 'kajabel52') and a friend gave me some encouragement to put up a site.   There are so many excellent astrology sites out there, and I don't really plan on doing some stupendous thing.  But it's just my own site, along with right here on Blogstream.

Do you realize Daylight Saving Time is coming up in a few weeks?  Then it's the first day of spring and Easter, too.  This is a good weekend to begin your spring-cleaning, if you're inclined, with the Moon going through Capricorn to help focus and work hard.

Yesterday I posted on 'Homeless-Streets of Santa Barbara' regarding Leap Year.  When I consider Daylight Saving Time, in addition, my head spins.  The calendar changes in the 1700's shouldn't cause too many problems for astrologers but Daylight Saving Time does.  The accuracy of the time and place of the birth is crucial to an accurate chart, especially when it comes to certain methods of advancing the birth chart to outline future trends and moods.  There are a few states that were not too particular about whether DST was in effect, and the birth certificate times reflect that.  That is one big concern of anyone working with astrology - having absolute certainty of the time of birth.  Obviously, this can be a challenge in certain cases.

Enjoy your Leap Day - make it count!

 Saturn and The Lunar Eclipse

The little speck just below and to the left of the eclipse is indeed Saturn.

The eclipse was beautiful Wednesday night! A storm was clearing out after a day of rain in Santa Barbara. The eclipse was clearly visible with whispy clouds floating past, giving quite an 'otherworldly' look to the sky.

The eclipse took place in the second degree of the sign Virgo (1 degree 53 minutes of Virgo) and Saturn was in the 6th degree. If you have planets in or around those degrees, you might have some dramatic events in your life's arena. John McCain is one person I can think of who has a tie-in - with his Sun in Virgo. The eclipse took place in his 11th house (if the time is accurate) which high-lights his hopes, dreams, goals, friendships, and group activities. Saturn asks us to accept responsibility and not cut corners.

The eclipse took place in Barack Obama's 10th house of career, professional standing in the 'community', or reputation in the community, which also contains his Pluto and Part of Fortune (upon which the eclipse fell!). Do we have a hard-working new president in position? The eclipse actually took place on Hillary Clinton's Virgo Midheaven, which is the beginning of the 10th house, the position directly overhead at the time of one's birth. This could be an even more exact indicator of a new president; one who has put a great emphasis on learning and perfecting skills through study and analysis. As a very basic statement, Obama takes on a serious commitment of power and Clinton reaches a pinnacle she has worked hard for during the past 14 years. John McCain is challenged on how seriously he takes his commitment to help the condition of humanity by serving his constituents.

Wherever an eclipse falls in your chart, or a nation's, will be an area highlighted for the coming period after the eclipse.

Is it bad luck? We make our own luck. We are all individualized by the environmental and hereditary factors at work in our lives. We can all respond to an opportunity. Our attitude and how we treat others will have everything to do with luck.

 My Car Dies...

My 1971 bug died 2 days ago.  It needs an engine rebuild.  That would be about $1,500.00.  The car is worth about $3,500.00.

Truth be told, I'm sick and tired of being held hostage by the Department of Motor Vehicles, the auto insurance companies, and the oil companies.  I'm seriously considering selling it as is for whatever I can get.

Since I turned 50-ish, I've wanted to ease and simplify my life.  I've gradually been auctioning some of my tarot card collection, books, and jewelry.  Things are getting to be such a hassle for me.  And, if I'm hit by a truck tomorrow, I really don't want to leave all this crud for my 2 sons to deal with.

I have to think this over.  Can I even get the money together to repair the car?  Shall I repair and sell to buy another car, a newer year?  Will my younger son be able to get to and from school each day if I do without a car for a while?  It would be more healthful for me to just walk a block to the bus stop.  My older son is fine doing that, or just walking everyplace.  He has very long legs, is in great shape, and loves to move around.  My younger son, on the other hand, is 12 and loves to play video games and watch TV.  He does get exercise but I can honestly say that he would rather not move around if he doesn't have to.

Mercury goes direct this Sunday, February 17.  Mars and Pluto are opposing each other in the skies and we can see some news to match - more violence seems to be going on in the worlds of war and crime.  But in general I think people are feeling optimistic and hopeful because of the primaries and election this year.  Right now, several planets are in 'Critical Degrees' of the zodiac.  A critical degree will let the planet's energies be expressed in a strong way.  People are weary of mistreatment of women worldwide and want to see resources used to provide the necessities for the millions who are lacking.  Ideals are in focus and people want to put effort toward humanitarian purposes.

 Mercury, Oh, Mercury...

I had a weird experience this morning. I was entering a parking lot with a ticket dispenser which would buzz then lift the 'bar' so you could enter the lot when you took a ticket. The buzzer sounded and the ticket was ready to be taken. I grabbed it but tickets kept flying out of the machine. The old TV show 'Candid Camera' instantly came to mind. The buzzer kept up it's attention-getting noise while the tickets went for their freedom. But the 'bar' did not raise so I could enter the lot. After about 30 seconds, one ticket remained ready to be removed. It was 'The One' apparently because the buzzer stopped and the 'bar' lifted finally. That situation reeks of Mercury fumbling to find his way while going backwards. Then upon entering the post office in the shop area, a man smelling strongly of cigarettes began to ask for 'help' but he mumbled so I really couldn't understand him. I figured it was a pretty strangely obvious place for that activity, just outside the post office and about 15 yards from the door of Kevin Costner's restaurant, Epiphany.

On a sad note, I feel such sympathy for Heath Ledger's family. I know very well how medications can 'clash' and it's easy to forget what you've taken. Valium really affects memory badly. I know his death was an accident. At the time of his transition to spirit, Mercury was at about 18 or 19 degrees of Aquarius. Then it went retrograde. Today, as the news of the cause of death was released, Mercury is once again at the same degree. This is it's second time at that degree, only backwards. Mercury will turn direct again on Feb. 18. It will once again transit over those degrees of Aquarius around March 6. We'll see if more news of Mr. Ledger is revealed at that time. During this retrograde, Mercury travels between 8 degrees and 24 degrees of Aquarius, usually moving a degree a day except while slowing down to change direction when it can remain at or near the same degree for about one week.
