Taurus aka The Hierophant of Tarot

Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac. Taurus, the bull, is a fixed, earth sign. Fixed gives staying power. The earth element connects it firmly to the material realm.

Slow but thorough and sensuous, these souls are very stable, somewhat traditional or conservative (not brash or flashy), being a pleasant companion because of their sincerity and simplicity.

Venus is the ruling planet of Taurus. "Magnetic", receptive, yin, and artistic, good working with hands as on sculpture and often gifted with exquisite voices. Can be magnificent lovers. Healthy appetite for good things in life. Great gardeners, too.

During the time the sun travels through Taurus, April 20 through May 20 or close to those dates, I notice the mockingbirds singing their beautiful song during the night. I find it enchanting to hear a mockingbird's exquisite singing at 1 or 2 in the morning!

The tarot card known as The Hierophant corresponds to the sign of Taurus. The card usually depicts an older religious figure blessing those kneeling before him, often having keys included in the imagery. The keeper of the keys or secrets is the desired role of the traditional religious leaders.
More images here!

The material desires of Taurus can be developed into extreme generosity and would be a meaningful step in the life of the bull.

Lots of Fish in the Stream

I referred to my avatar having the astrology background in a past post. I had no idea that each time I changed the avatar, that would be reflected in my posts on Blogstream! Good grief.

I have noticed that there are a large number of Pisces blogging in Blogstream. It's no surprise because of the many beautiful, sensitive blogs here.

Moon is in Gemini today and I have a fun activity for it! Take a visual literacy exercise. This is so cool! I was checking out the SB City College summer schedule of online classes and noticed "visual literacy". Hmmm. I didn't know what it was but it sounded good. I collect tarot cards because of the images on the cards and what they represent. Visual literacy had to be close to interpreting tarot cards, or so I hoped.

Hiroshige Ango (1787 - 1858) - Woodcarving

Scenes like the above are used in the exercise. It is fun, you can give feedback to the creator of the exercise, and you can use links they provide to learn more of Japan. That's Mt. Fuji covered with snow in the above image.

I am getting away from the TV today and sending my prayers to the family or friends of those whose physical life was ended unexpectedly. Those inclined can also pray for help for those souls. From what I've read, a sudden, violent ending to our earthly existence can be a severe shock. The souls may be afraid, confused, and we can assist by sending thought-forms of reassurance to them and prayers for trust and peace in their transition. Thoughts travel. So why not make them positive and helpful?

 Signs Divided According to Needs

Yahoo! Avatars

Astrology signs are divided into groups. First, you have the 12 signs in the 360 degrees of the zodiac. Imagine our solar system in it's orbit within a big huge belt. The belt would be the zodiac. There are other things out there, too; they would be the "fixed stars". Fixed = in the same place, or moves so slowly you don't really need to worry about it.

If we divide the 12 signs by 2, we have what many refer to as feminine and masculine signs. I don't like these terms because people usually associate them with the wrong image. Feminine means magnetic or receptive. Masculine means electric or assertive. As with everything in principles and energies or vibrations, there is no good or bad. There are lesser and greater degrees of each, which can be considered "not enough" or "too much", perhaps, but it is something we can control. Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, and Aquarius are outgoing, electric signs. Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces are the magnetic, introverted signs.

Then, we have the four elements - fire, earth, air, and water. Fire signs are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Earth signs are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. Air signs would be Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius (yes, it's the water-bearer but it's an air sign). And Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces are the water signs.

Fire is the realm of spirit/Spirit or enthusiasm and animation. Air relates with the realm of thought, ideas, communication. Water "rules" or corresponds to the emotional and feeling realm. And earthy signs are good at dealing with the physical here and now, the tangible things i.e. our "stuff" like ipods, cars, status items that others see. When I think of the signs in this way, it is easier to work with and make sense of the ideas.

Dividing the 12 signs by 3 gives us Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn as Cardinal signs. They are very good at planning things and starting projects. Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius are the Fixed signs who are good managers and "sustainers". Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces are Mutable signs; they are adaptable, good at carrying things out. Cardinal signs can get too many things started though, and Fixed signs have a really difficult time changing an existing situation, and Mutable signs can have trouble unless there is a reachable goal to focus on. When dealing with children, I found it easy to get Cardinal signs going by making things a game, Fixed signs needed to "be in charge", and Mutable signs could "switch" from playing the game this way to playing it that way.

With a Leo and Taurus , I realized the fixity in their nature needed a fair warning that we would have to leave or end an activity. Maybe a general announcement 20 min. from blast-off, then 5 minute warnings.
Then with my Taurus (SO good at the material, physical realm) I needed to "promise" some THING like food or coin to look forward to at the "other" place. I've found astrology very good at giving insight in motivations and behaviors of others (children!). Taurus just NEEDS to hold onto something, a possession or whatever.

A Leo needs an audience. In general, fire signs need freedom and independence to explore, air signs need friends and associates with whom to communicate, earth signs need things, visible tangible symbols of effort and worth, and water signs need to "feel" and possibly have the feelings acknowledged.

Are your own needs being met? These can give some interesting things to think about.

Blessings,

Lulublue

***Links to Character and Daily Forecast***

If you are curious about your chart, here are links that you can use for free interpretations. You will need to enter your birth data to get your "reading". To get the most accurate chart, you need: 1. birthdate; 2. birthtime; and 3. city of birth. The birth certificate should have all the information. If I can't get all the data for a chart, I use 6:00 am as the time and put the city in which the person lives as the place. Some astrologers prefer to use 12:00 noon, some use the degree of the sun on the birthdate. Just copy the link and paste to the address bar of your browser... http://www.adze.com/Horoscopes/form.html The above is for a daily forecast. The link below is for your point-and-click chart. The interpretations are by Robert Hand, one of the planet's finest astrologers. http://www.astro.com/cgi/ade.cgi?ract=aclch.cgi&btyp=ack&msyn=〈=e&cid= Experienced professional astrologers use a technique known as rectification to determine the time of birth based on the dates of certain life events. For example, a big career move, advance, or recognition would most likely involve the "Midheaven" and when Jupiter's benevolent influence could be felt in that area of life. The date of the occurrence can help determine what sign and degree are most likely in that place; a Midheaven is the sky straight up above you at the time of birth, in the city of your birth. At noon, the Sun would be straight up there. A Midheaven in Cancer might signify a career or profession involving food or nurturing. Another meaning could be working from the home. I hope this makes it easier for anyone wanting to see what astrology can do. Blessings, Lulublue

 Astrology and The Bible

The Bible says that God created the sun to rule the day and the moon to rule the night. And it says the heavens and stars were made for signs, days, seasons, and years.

To speak of something "ruling" can be interpreted as astrological reference. Each planet is said to "rule" over a certain sign, and each sign is said to "rule" over a particular group of events or physical subjects. The sign Pisces "rules" the feet, Sagittarius rules the thighs; Pisces also rules illusions, glamour, and movies. Sagittarius rules higher education.

Each day of the week is ruled by one of the original seven planets (Sun and Moon are spoken of as planets, too.) when discussing astrology. Sunday - Sun, Monday - Moon, Tuesday - Tiu(Norse and Old English)/Mars, Wednesday - Woden/Mercury, Thursday - Thor/Jupiter, Friday - Freya/Venus, and Saturday - Saturn. I learned that Wednesday is Miercoles in Spanish in the 3rd grade. You can hear the connection of Miercoles to Mercury easier than Wednesday (Woden's Day). To clarify, Tiu, Woden, Thor, and Freya come from the Norse or Germanic ancient pantheon and correspond to Mars/Ares, Mercury/Hermes/Thoth, Jupiter/Zeus, and Venus/Aphrodite.

Of course, a king rules his subjects. Ruling can be overseeing or taking charge of.

I find things in the Bible that can be interpreted in different ways. Statistics can be used in the same way. One can infer a particular meaning depending on their purpose or agenda.

The language of the Bible, written 1500 years ago, or around that time, is not too easy to know for certain unless your degree in linguistics, Hebrew, Latin, and Aramaic are hanging on your wall.

Actually all sacred texts are similar. They have the creation story, the deluge, the virgin birth, and other parallel stories. A difference occurs most noticeably when religions are divided by their adherence to either the Resurrection and faith or Reincarnation and awareness.

My intent is not to challenge anybody's belief and faith. I have only been trying to satisfy my own curiosity about the Bible (sacred texts) and astrology. What is meant by astrology is even subject to debate. What I consider it to be is knowing the position of celestial bodies on certain dates. This is science. After learning through experience and study the "rulerships" of each planet, handed down through thousands of years in certain civilizations, and synthesizing or blending, an astrologer can arrive at an accurate description of one's character, talents, abilities, and challenges. Because one astrologer uses psychic impressions and intuition in an interpretation does not mean all do. Some will draw more upon psychology. There are types of astrology that cover weather, the stock market, sports, politics, and esoteric matters, among others.

As the saying goes, a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. Or I can say the more I know, the more I realize that I don't know and the more there is to learn. I am dedicated in my search and it makes my life fascinating.

Blessings,

Lulublue
